REPRESENTING SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN WITH INTEGRITY

Welcome! I'm Brad Paquette, and as a freedom-loving conservative Republican, I'm excited about what we can accomplish together - expanding liberty, simplifying government, and empowering active citizens to fulfill their dreams. We can bring people together - of all ages and backgrounds - to embrace conservative truths in genuine fellowship, and to share in the amazing blessings and opportunities of America.
I decided to run a different kind of campaign - and rather than being a "check-the-box" guy who memorizes talking points, I want to be the sort of candidate who listens and learns. I've absolutely loved knocking on doors, visiting township meetings, meeting small business owners, connecting with faith leaders, and gathering wisdom from all across the 78th district, and I feel like I've only scratched the surface. Government "of the people, by the people, and for the people" is the kind of government Michigan needs, and with your vote in the election November 3rd, we'll continue making that vision a reality.
I support upholding of the the Michigan Constitution, I'm pro-life, pro-liberty, and I believe that the government should be involved in the lives of people in a minimal fashion, unless to empower active citizens. (See Theodore Roosevelt's Duties of an American Citizenship Speech if you would like to understand my perspective on being an Active American Citizen.)
A TEACHER MAKES THE COMPLEX SIMPLE
I've been putting down roots in Southwest Michigan for the last 8 years as a neighbor, educator, and active citizen. Originally from the Upper Peninsula (a Yooper!), I was blessed to have been raised with strong conservative family values. I received my Bachelors in the Arts from Northern Michigan University (Political Science/Pre Law) then my Masters in the Art of Teaching from Andrews University in Berrien Springs.
Prior to serving my first term in the legislature, I invested in our community as Vice-Chair of the Planning Commission in Niles, and as an educator at Niles New Tech, where I've been a leader in Project-Based Learning for the New Tech Network over the last five years. (I've had the privilege of teaching U.S. history, civics, and Spanish - and most of all, challenging young people to pursue their purpose in life!) In fact, it was during a civics course I was teaching that my learners challenged me to take my "active citizenship" to the next level - which led me to seek this office.
We all know that the best teachers are the ones who can make complex things simple - and that has certainly been my aim throughout my career. Now, I feel called to apply that skill to government as well, to become a servant-leader for Michigan who makes complex government simple. When this happens, we return more power to people, and we sweep away the barriers that hold them back.
I'd love to have a conversation with you about what you think our district needs, and how you think we can improve our form of representative government. Let's get together! Use the form below or head to our Facebook Page if you are interested in discussing any ideas.
